By 2023, the plant had obtained green energy certificates and used self-produced solar power. The annual solar power generation reached 991,976 kWh (approximately 3,571.93 GJ), while purchased electricity amounted to 6,112,363 kWh (approximately 22,009.5 GJ). In 2023, self-produced solar power accounted for about 13.95% of the total electricity consumption in Suzhou, surpassing the Fudy Group’s target of using 10% green energy by 2025.
In 2021, the Suzhou Fuyang Plant strategically planned to integrate renewable energy. After thorough preparation, the plant officially began generating solar power in Q4 of 2022.
By 2023, the Suzhou Fuyang Plant had achieved significant milestones. The plant obtained green energy certificates and successfully generated electricity using self-produced solar power. Data shows that in 2023, the plant generated 991,976 kWh (approximately 3,571.93 GJ) of solar power and purchased 6,112,363 kWh (approximately 22,009.5 GJ) of electricity.
Thanks to these efforts, self-produced solar power accounted for about 13.95% of the total electricity used in Suzhou in 2023. This achievement surpasses the Fudy Group’s goal of using 10% green energy by 2025, highlighting our commitment and capability in using renewable energy.
There are multiple benefits to using solar power. Firstly, solar energy is an infinite and free resource, reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels and helping to lower carbon emissions and greenhouse gases.
Generating 1 kWh of solar power can reduce approximately 0.494 kg of CO2 emissions. Therefore, the solar power generated by Suzhou Fuyang Plant in 2023 reduced CO2 emissions by about 490,836.144 kg, equivalent to 490.84 tCO2e.
Note: Calculations are based on the 2023 electricity carbon emission factor of 0.494 kg CO2e/kWh.
Moreover, solar power systems have relatively low operation and maintenance costs, providing significant long-term economic benefits. Solar power can reduce reliance on externally purchased electricity, enhancing energy self-sufficiency and strengthening corporate energy security.
The Fudy Group has always been committed to promoting green and sustainable development. We recognize the critical role of renewable energy in environmental protection and the long-term success of our company. The achievements of the Suzhou Fuyang Plant offer valuable insights and inspiration for other facilities within our group.
As technology advances and market conditions evolve, we will continue to invest in the renewable energy sector andpromote green electricity usage in more plants. Our aim is to ensure that by 2025, each plant uses at least 5% green electricity, with the group average reaching 10%, striving for comprehensive sustainable development.
