Redefining the Journey from 'Temporary Home' to 'Forever Home'
The "adoption box" provided to adopters by public shelters has not been updated for a long time and is gradually becoming outdated. In 2023, Fudy collaborated with the Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office on the "Pack a Home" social good design project, redefining the service process for animals returning home from shelters. The "adoption box" is a transport cage for bringing pets around and a place where pets can gradually adapt to their new life – a "home."

Design Concept

The new version of the "adoption box" safely transports animals home and changes how animals are carried through its structural design. From single-handed "carrying" to double-handed "embracing," the relationship between pets and their families deepens when they start their journey home.

Upon arriving home, the transport box can transform into a comfortable top-opening sleeping nest for pets or provide a secure hut, helping pets have their own safe and secure place to adapt to their new home life.

Functionality

Intuitive assembly

A One-piece design makes it easy for adoption agency staff to assemble.

Safe transport

The adoption box can adjust the opening according to the animal's size, making it easy to put cats and dogs inside and ensuring safety during the transition.

Strong locking mechanism

The adoption box has a sturdy locking bar that keeps it from easily opening during transport.

Ergonomic design

The handle position and tilt angle of the box make it easy for users to carry pets home.

Quick conversion feature

The adoption box can be quickly converted into two types of pet beds using pre-cut serrated lines, including a more private pet safety house and an open pet bed, becoming a safe spot for newly arrived cats or dogs.

Extended use

Through functional transformations and material selection, the "adoption box" has transportation value, increases product lifespan, and is environmentally friendly.

Impact

Solving the issue of stray animals is our first step in implementing SDG 15 "Terrestrial Ecosystems." However, the key to solving the problem of stray animals lies not in the number of adoptions but in whether each adopted dog or cat can live harmoniously and happily with their "family" until old age. In response to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), two concepts have been incorporated into the "adoption box" design to maximize the project's impact.

Enhancing sustainability

Using corrugated material made from recycled waste paper and through structural design, the "adoption box" has multiple uses, extending the product's lifespan and reducing resource waste and carbon emissions.

Promoting positive behavior

Enhancing the design and functionality of an adoption box encourages adopters to use a sturdy and secure "adoption box." It guides them in preparing a safe space for their pets to adapt to a new life upon returning home.
