Leading the Low-Carbon Transformation: Fudy’s Partnership with Zyxel’s Zero Carbon Academy

In 2023-2024, Fudy took a significant step in sustainable supply chain management by joining Zyxel’s “Zero Carbon Academy.” This initiative, supported by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs under the “Big-Leads-Small Low-Carbon and Smart Upgrade Transformation” project, demonstrates Fudy’s commitment to addressing climate change and driving low-carbon transformation alongside our value chain partners.

Comprehensive Sustainability Empowerment Program

The Academy delivered 111 hours of specialized training built around three core pillars: Disclosure, Transformation, and Communication. Alongside other Zyxel suppliers, Fudy actively participated in this year-long sustainability journey. By August 2024, nearly 3,000 participants had engaged in over 4,200 hours of training, highlighting the industry’s commitment to low-carbon transformation.

From Knowledge to Practice

The program covered key areas including carbon reduction fundamentals, energy efficiency assessments, implementation strategies, and low-carbon product development. Through this comprehensive training, Fudy achieved three major outcomes:

Enhanced Expertise: Our sustainability team developed a thorough understanding of carbon management concepts and practical skills, establishing a solid foundation for our carbon reduction strategies.
Practical Application: We applied energy efficiency tools from the program to our Taipei plant, uncovering several optimization opportunities.
Expanded Network: Collaborating with other suppliers, we established valuable channels for sharing best practices across the industry.

Concrete Results: From Learning to Implementation

Turning knowledge into action, Fudy completed its first ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory in 2024. This milestone established our baseline carbon emissions data and marked a crucial step toward setting science-based reduction targets. The achievement represents our successful transition from conceptual understanding to quantitative management.

Our sustainability leadership was recognized by our value chain partners, with Fudy receiving Zyxel’s “Outstanding ESG Supplier of the Year” award. This recognition validates our commitment and inspires us to push further in our low-carbon transformation journey.

Looking Ahead: From Participant to Leader

Building on our experience with the Zero Carbon Academy, we’re focusing on four strategic priorities:

Enhance greenhouse gas inventory processes for improved data accuracy and completeness
Develop and implement clear carbon reduction targets and roadmaps
Broaden ESG knowledge across the organization and cultivate sustainability talent
Leverage insights for product innovation, focusing on competitive low-carbon packaging solutions
