At Fudy, our motto is “Power for the Possible.
” Our “Packaging Compression Strength Test and G-Value Calculation” course recently taught our sales team how to calculate the G-value of products and understand compression testing principles. They also experienced the incredible strength of corrugated cardboard—it can support the weight of six adults! This was reassuring for some of our more robust colleagues.
Edge crush test, compression test, G-value… Sound overwhelming? Don’t worry. Fudy’s sales team has mastered these terms and is ready to tackle any customer challenges to ensure our packaging is flawless.
We believe continuous learning is critical to enhancing business capabilities. Fudy’s team is improving their skills in a relaxed and enjoyable way, providing the best packaging solutions for our customers. Come on! No matter what product, we’ve got it covered!

Fudy offers targeted training courses tailored to different job roles. Recently, we organized a specialized course on “Packaging Compression Strength Test and G-Value Calculation” for our sales department. The instructor expertly blended theory with practical application, enabling Fudy’s Taipei sales team to understand how corrugated cardboard structures provide cushioning and protection in packaging.
The compression strength of our general packaging boxes primarily depends on the cardboard’s edge crush strength (ECT). This edge crush strength is influenced by the ring crush strength (RCT) of the paper layers that constitute the corrugated board, the board’s flute combination, and the board’s adhesive strength.
In packaging, the G-value refers to the acceleration experienced by the internal product when the packaging is subjected to impact or vibration. It is a crucial indicator of the cushioning performance of packaging. The G-value is typically expressed as the ratio of the acceleration experienced by the internal product to gravitational acceleration. A smaller G-value indicates better protective performance for the internal product. In essence, the G-value reflects the maximum impact or vibration the product can endure during transportation, aiding designers in optimizing packaging design to provide superior protection.

During the practical session, our sales colleagues conducted weight-bearing tests using ordinary corrugated cardboards, discovering that these materials could support the weight of six adults! This hands-on experience not only deepened their understanding of the marvels of structural design—initially, some robust colleagues were concerned about crushing the structure—but also boosted their confidence in the technology.
Through such training, the sales team learned how to calculate product G-Values, understood the basic principles of the ECT, and gained a deeper appreciation for the critical work of their structural designer colleagues. This mutual respect and understanding have strengthened our team’s cohesion, ensuring seamless coordination in our operations.
Power for the Possible!
