Fudy Group’s Fuyang Factory at DongGuan got the FAMA Certificate Approved by Disney

To become qualified to produce Disney-branded product packaging, Fudy Group’s Fuyang Factory at DongGuan has completed Disney ILS (International Labor Standards) Audits and has achieved the FAMA (Disney Facility and Merchandise Authorization) certificate approval.

What is Disney ILS Audit?

Disney cartoons are the basis of many people’s happy childhood memories. The Walt Disney Company strives to provide adult workers with a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace. Therefore, Disney has established the ILS International Labor Standards Program to oversee labor standards compliance across Disney cooperates’ vast supply chain. In other words, Disney uses this standard to test whether facilities are qualified to produce products incorporating Disney’s intellectual property.

The Disney International Labor Standards Program Manual[1] provides the following definitions of facilities.

Facilities engaged in the production of Disney-branded products must be declared to Disney, including physical locations where:

  • Disney-branded components, subcomponents, and final products are produced, manufactured, assembled, printed, embroidered, engraved, etched, applied, or subcontracted.
  • Disney-branded agricultural products are processed, labeled, or packaged.
  • Disney-branded elements (such as instruction booklets, packaging materials, and labels or hangtags) are produced, processed, printed, or assembled.

To become a qualified facility and produce Disney-branded products, a facility has to pass the Disney ILS Audit and submit a FAMA application to Disney. In other words, the ILS program is the Walt Disney Company’s socially responsible performance standard for licensees and vendors worldwide.

What are the Disney international labor standards?

The Disney Company requires all facilities engaged in the production of Disney-branded products to meet and maintain at least a minimum level of compliance with the “Disney Code.” This requisite level of compliance is referred to as the MCS (Minimum Compliance Standard).

  • Child labor: avoidance of child labor, nor supporting child labor recruitment.
  • Involuntary labor: avoidance of forced labor, such as prison labor.
  • Coercion and harassment: prohibition of any forms of harassment or abuse.
  • Nondiscrimination: avoidance of discrimination against employees for any reason (age, race, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.).
  • Freedom of association: guarantee of the freedom of association for employees
  • Health and Safety: to provide a safe and healthy work environment and protective equipment and measures required for work to protect the safety and health of all employees.
  • Subcontracting: to never transfer orders to non-compliant factories for manufacture.
  • Monitoring and Compliance: based on the standards of local laws and regulations, protection of the working environment, conditions, places, and human rights of workers; reviewed by the Walt Disney Company and its designated agents (without prior notice) for compliance with the Disney Code of Conduct to ensure that all Disney-branded products are legal and compliant.
