Why is Fudy Group conducting GHG inventories?

Managing carbon emissions is a business imperative

According to the “Global Supply Chain Report” released by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a company’s upstream and downstream supply chain carbon emissions are as high as 11.4 times that of its operations.

The report also indicated that it is difficult for many companies to keep track of the carbon emissions of their upstream and downstream supply chains. Accordingly, it is challenging to develop effective carbon reduction strategies. Therefore, if a company wants to manage its carbon emissions well and moves towards net zero, it must first have a clear understanding of the carbon emissions of its supply chains.

Dongguan Fuyang Factory completed its first GHG inventory and obtained verification

Fudy Group clearly understands that the packaging industry is an important part of the supply chain. Our ESG mission is to work with customers to reduce the total carbon emissions of their products. Fudy is more than willing to take the initiative required to reduce carbon emissions. For example, at the end of October 2022, our Suzhou Fuyang factory installed solar power panels and started operation to reduce the factory’s consumption of gray energy.

In September this year, Fudy Group’s Dongguan Fuyang Factory completed its first GHG (GreenHouse Gas) verification. The verification was performed based on ISO 14064-1:2018 in the year 2020, and the level of assurance for category 1 to 4 agreed upon is that of reasonable assurance.

Why a GHG inventory? The beginning of low-carbon transition

In addition to fostering understanding by customers of suppliers’ carbon emissions, to enable customer to develop carbon emission reduction plans, the carbon inventory also allows Fudy’s Dongguan Fuyang Factory to better understand the total carbon emissions quantity generated by the packaging produced throughout a whole product life.

By understanding the details, we can target pain points, develop GHG emission reduction action strategies more precisely, and use carbon inventory as the starting point for low-carbon transformation, reflecting the goals of ESG responsibility.

Fudy Group’s Taipei Fudy Headquarters and Suzhou Fuyang Factory are expected to follow up with the Dongguan Fuyang Factory to complete the carbon inventory and verification in 2023.Power for the possible!
