Replace magnetic design with full paper structural design!

The packaging needs to be lighter, which has always been one of the pain points that customers desperately want to solve. Fudy Group—Suzhou Design Center received the task of packaging weight reduction. The product packaging, in this case, is a flip-top gift box with a high unit price and high quality. Originally, magnetics connection used as a fixed packaging switch. However, to achieve lightweight packaging and simplify the packaging materials, the customer asked for high-quality demagnetized packaging with a switch that does not easily disconnect.

To meet the demand for demagnetization and comply with the environmental protection design principle of simplifying materials as much as possible, Fudy Design Center replaced the magnet with an all-paper structure. Moreover, we made fine adjustments between ① the outer diameter of the inner box and ② the inner diameter of the outer box, using the slight difference in diameter ( 5-10mm) as a tenon. As a result, the finished product can be covered perfectly.

Using a V-groove design to replace the ribbon pull flap design

Plastic-free packaging has recently become the primary trend in the packaging industry. However, there are many plastic accessories and a wide range of applications. Therefore, the road to de-plasticization is slow and difficult. But we believe that as long as we are determined, anything can be solved with creativity and professionalism. De-plasticizing is not impossible.

In this case, we solved the customer’s pain point using a v-groove design to replace the ribbon (made of polyamide) pull flap design. This v-groove design not only met the customer’s principle of plastic-free packaging but also made the box open at the desirable angle, making the unpacking experience smoother.
