Packaging, according to Wikipedia, refers to the protective covering and decoration of the outside of an object. However, as packaging evolves, it is often endowed with emotional meanings such as brand image or value.
Munchkin, an American baby product and accessories brand, has collaborated with two nonprofit organizations, International Foundation for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and The Whale Sanctuary Project (WSP). They are launching Wildlove, a leak-proof training cup for toddlers. Whenever a Wildlove cup is sold, a fixed percentage of the profit goes to these two nonprofits to support their daily operation.
Munchkin uses 100% recycled kraft paper for the packaging and only prints the line drawing on the paper to depict wild natural sceneries. This packaging can be hung for display to sale in the store. After consumers bring it home, they will be pleasantly surprised that the seemingly simple packaging can be unfolded into wild scenery. This design echoes the sustainable goals of IFAW and WSP, allowing animals to return to a safe, natural environment.
The packaging design of Munchkin adopts a method similar to that of a theatrical dance set. Unfolding this package gives the product a stage. The set of this stage presents a certain nostalgic space and atmosphere. The product takes the stage as the protagonist to tell its stories and ideas.
