As ESG has become an indispensable indicator in supply chain management, Fudy, as a part of sustainable supply chain, besides assisting customers in achieving ESG goals, wants to improve our ESG performances to become a more sustainable enterprise.

Background of the Project

To achieve sustainable development, improving one’s capabilities is a crucial factor. Therefore, Fudy has launched the annual design theme project, through which we hope to refine Fudy group’s design capabilities while giving a helping hand to society. We have integrated our packaging structural design expertise with animal protection issues to achieve improvements in various ESG indicators.

We are going to collaborate with an animal shelter to use our packaging expertise to assist stray animals in finding a forever home. Therefore, this project is named “Pack a Home.”

Why animal protection issues?

Enhancing biodiversity has become a vital issue in ESG in recent years.

However, according to KPMG’s 2020 Survey of Sustainability Reporting, only about a quarter of the 250 global companies disclosed their contributions and risks related to biodiversity in their ESG reports. Therefore, in December 2022, the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15) in Montreal reached a consensus on the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), urging policymakers, businesses, and investors to pay more attention to this issue and take action as soon as possible.

In Taiwan, stray dogs and cats roaming around and spread diseases, attack wild animals, and compete for land resources with them, threatening Taiwan’s overall ecological balance and biodiversity.

Since 2017, Taiwan has implemented a zero-euthanasia policy. While this policy may have good intentions, it has led to overcrowding in animal shelters and an increasing number of stray dogs and cats wandering around in the wild.

According to a 2020 study by Taiwan’s Council of Agriculture, the number of stray dogs has exceeded that of most native carnivorous mammals in Taiwan; additionally, stray cats have caused the extinction of at least 22 species. Therefore, the first step in promoting SDG 15, “Life on Land,” and restoring biodiversity is to address the problem of stray animals, promote adoption, and reduce abandonment.

Fudy actively enhances its ESG capabilities based on its annual design project

Through this project, Fudy can enhance animal welfare with our core capabilities in packaging structural design and supporting animal shelter operations as well as improve the animal adoption process. At the same time, with the internal training and the resources we invest in this project, Fudy’s design capabilities will improve, and our employees can gain an awareness of animal protection.

POWER FOR THE POSSIBLE. We pack you a home.
